WORKSHOP #5 Tuesday, October 24 8:00 am -12:00 pm | WORKSHOP #6 Tuesday, October 24 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm Courtroom testimony always seems to be a fearful topic in forensic science, especially to new employees. The idea of public speaking has become scarier than death to some individuals. The realization is everyone will always be nervous when speaking in front of a group, but there is nothing to fear. This workshop helps attendees understand the court system, how to present yourself, and using your laboratory policies effectively as your shield of protection. Applicable to any forensic discipline. |
WORKSHOP #7 Tuesday, October 24 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm Lesson plans are the foundation of any training. Whether you are inheriting an in-service training course or you are creating one from scratch, every instructor should use an effective lesson plan. Lesson plans are not just pieces of paper. They contain important information about the training course that stands up to scrutiny. This includes a course description, course outcomes, course objectives, assessment methods and a course syllabus. In this workshop, students will learn the importance of each of these components and will build their own lesson plan. The lesson plan format used in this workshop has been approved by the IAI Forensic Certification Management Board. Students are encouraged to bring materials from their agency to create a lesson plan they can use right away. | WORKSHOP #8 Wednesday, October 25 8 am - 12:00 pm “More Decisions in Latent Print Examinations” - John Vanderkolk, Unique Forensics LLC What will happen when latent print examiners expand their decision categories beyond Excluded, Inconclusive, and Identified?
